Karongi
Karongi district is a popular destination for local and international visitors as it is the most quickly accessible resort town from Kigali. The capital of Karongi is Rubengera, but the district also contains Kibuye, the Provincial capital and a major Rwandan lakeside resort.
Kibuye
Is one of the prettiest of the lake side towns laying half way between Rubavu and Rusizi, on the shores of lake Kivu, one of the largest in land water bodies. Kibuye is known as a beach resort, with many islands and crystal clear water with rocky beaches to enjoy. Although the beaches are not sandy, they are ideal for swimming. Kibuye is a one of the best places to go for a relaxing time away.
Rubavu
Rubavu is a district (akarere) in Western Province, Rwanda. Its capital is Gisenyi, Rwanda’s biggest beach resort and border city. The district lies on the shores of Lake Kivu, around the city of Gisenyi, and just across the border from the Congolese city of Goma. It is also close to Mount Nyiragongo, an active volcano. Rubavu district is divided into 12 sectors (imirenge): Bugeshi, Busasamana, Cyanzarwe, Gisenyi, Kanama, Kanzenze, Mudende, Nyakiliba, Nyamyumba, Nyundo, Rubavu and Rugerero.
